westborough-in-paris

lots of visitors lately, lots of adventures.

a voyage to the moon, the melies exhibit at paris's cinema museum...

...down memory lane, reliving our past and eating melted camembert like we used to in nice..

...and up the eiffel tower (il faisait trop beau! amazing weather lately!)

this week has been pretty desolate school wise. basically no classes other than brown-organized ones. and today, another jeudi noir, another manif! the view from my window this afternoon (bocce to the right, crowd in the background):

it's fun to be in the thick of it, but it can get sort of loud :P according to le monde, way more people showed up than to the last manifestation in january. also, because a couple of people have asked me, i thought i'd mention that these big demonstrations (29 janvier et 19 mars) happen throughout france, not just in paris. he article i just read seemed to say that the manif was a success in terms of turnout but that there hasn't been much of a government response. we were warned today that they may extend the semester if it continues?!

more photos to share and stories to tell but for now a couple of highlights:

nightfall in montmartre
rodin museum = beautiful

  2. Oh my god I love Melies!!!! You're so lucky! Did you get to see part of Voyage a la lune? It's quoted so much in my film theory book, but they always talk about it in vague, mysterious ways, like "...of course, no one could come close to the Melies ingenius scene with the train...but that is self-evident, of course." Tell me more!
